The term LCM stands for ‘Least Common Multiple’. The lowest possible number that can be divisible by both the numbers is known as the least common multiple. However, it can be done for more than two numbers too. One of the quickest ways of solving LCM is using the prime factorization method. There are certain steps to keep in mind while solving LCM using the listing method in the given least common multiple worksheet.

Teaching Identifying LCM Easily 

 

  • Firstly, list the few multiples of X and Y. 
  • Then, you can mark the common multiples between X and Y. 
  • Lastly, select the lowest number. That is the least common multiple of X and Y. 


 

Let us take an example mentioned below to understand more about LCM. 


 

Example 1: Find the LCM of 4 and 5. 

First few multiples of 4 = 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 and so on. 

First few multiples of 5 = 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and so on. 


 

Least Common Multiple = 20.
