Translate A Point Given Coordinates Worksheet

8 problems

8th Grade students learn about types of transformations such as translation, rotation, reflection, and dilation. They should understand the concept of translation and develop the ability to find the translation rules and coordinates of the point after translation. Teachers can provide “Translate a point given coordinates worksheet” to help them. In this worksheet, each problem has a given point and translation instruction and students are asked to write the translation rules followed by finding the coordinates of the point after translation.

Grade 8
Transformations
8.G.A.1

To solve this worksheet, students should have a deep understanding of coordinate plans and translation. For example, if point (4, 6) is translated 3 units to the right and 2 units up, then the rule of translation is (x,y)→(x+3,y+2). Using this rule, the coordinates of the translated point are (4+3, 6+2) = (7,8)
