Find The Distance Between Two Points Worksheet

8 problems

The length of the line segment which connects the two given points in a coordinate plane is known as the distance between two points. Through any two given points, there is only one point that passed through both of them. Thus, when we need to find out the distance between two points, we calculate it by finding the length of the line segment that connects the two given points. It is important to know that the distance between two points cannot be the length of the curve joining them.

Teaching to Solve for Distance Between Two Points Easily

The formula to find out the distance between two points in a coordinate plane is given below:

D = [(x2 - x1)2 + (y2 - y1)2

Follow the steps given below to find out the distance between two points:

  • Identify and note down the coordinates of the two points as M(x1, y1) and N(x2, y2)
  • Apply the formula: D = [(x2 - x1)2 + (y2 - y1)2
  • Find out the answer and express it in units
